At JCK Karate we aim to help all members reach their goals making sure they enjoy what they are doing.
We teach Olympic sport karate as well as Traditional self defence karate. Anyone who has competed before or is looking into improving their preparation for their next competition or even complete beginners you are all welcome to train with us. You don’t necessarily have to be a member or leave your old club. It is more about Champions sharing ideas to improve themselves.
For those not keen to compete in sport karate, we also practice traditional self defence karate. In traditional karate, members will follow a grading syllabus. The syllabus comprises well structured basic moves, kata (forms) and self defence techniques. Members can be tested under an independent external panel of experienced instructors every 3 months. We practice mainly Shotokan karate but mixed with some Goju-ryu, Shorin-ryu and Wado.
Whatever your level of fitness, your age or experience you are able to work at your own pace in a friendly but dedicated environment. We believe that Karate can give you everything we have mentioned above and more.
We also offer private 1-2-1 classes on request.
4-6 years classes. 7-12 years classes and 12+ adults classes
We start with simple fun games that you may be familiar with just so you get the confidence and feel comfortable to your new environment. Our teaching approach is always through games for every karate technique. Classes are divided according to age and ability. We have a clear defined path to follow whether for traditional karate training or your sport karate goals.
Although martial arts is hugely associated with self-defense and fitness, it also can increase self-confidence for challenges you may encounter in academic or social life. Self confidence built through martial arts training can also help in strengthening your career prospects.
We all have different strengths and weaknesses in our lives. At JCK, we gently build your fitness levels. We will never throw you at the deep-end until you have acquired the right skills and confidence to do it.
